Baby (girl) quilt finish

It's finished! Whoot-Whoot.

Baby (girl) quilt. 30" x 30"

It's not quite as large as I wanted it, but the idea was to make a small baby quilt that could be used  in a car seat or a carrier that wouldn't drag on the ground.

I used a loftier poly batting so the quilt is warm and has a nice, puffy feel. Minimal quilting on the diagonals makes this a light and fluffy, snuggly, baby quilt.

Next week, I'll finish my Baby (boy) quilt. It's about the same size, although seeing this finish makes me want to add a small border to have it finish at about 32" square, but we'll see how it goes.

a quick collage to show the back and close-up of the quilting

A legitimate Friday finish!

I have completed my garden fence top. I love it. I'm keeping it - for me! MINE. I love the cool, beachy colors and overall feeling the quilt envokes. It's very calming and tranquil. I wasn't a fan of the garden fence design, but these blocks are really lovely together.

I visited my LQS yesterday and picked up some really nice Robert Kaufman butterfly fabric and a pretty floral for the back - the idea being the flowers and butterflies are just behind the garden fence. I can't wait to quilt it. I have big ideas for this, too. I want to try my hand at some pebble quilting. I really hope I can pull it off and not ruin my beautiful quilt top.

And without further ado, I present my garden fence quilt:

I love this top!
Close up of butterfly detail - some butterflies even made it to the front of the quilt.

I would like it if I could make it just a few more inches larger. I may add another border, I can't decide. It's measuring about 52" square. I'm not always a fan of a square quilt, but I could handle it if it were a wee bit larger. We'll see what happens.

Have a great weekend. As always, make something.

Finally got some work done.

Happy Friday!

I'm so glad the week is over. I finally got a chance to get some sewing done. I completed two bee blocks yesterday and a block for a mug rug (herringbone - yay!). I also started knitting some golf club socks for my dad for Father's Day - I hope he likes them. I figured it was better than a tie and it will keep me busy. Here is what my day looked like yesterday:

baby quilt layout - still need to sew these together and finish the top.

woven block for simply solids bee - I really like how this one turned out. The colors are wonderful!

Foundation piecing Lone Star Burst block for Beeful of Paper.

A spy.

Finished Lone Star block for Beeful of Paper

Herringbone block - not sure I really am loving this block - but it can be turned into something good.

Sock for driver - it only has one stripe. I can't wait to make the big fluffy pom-poms for the tops of these.

Golf club socks were a truly inspired idea. He probably won't like them, but maybe he can be persuaded to use them if some nice cigars are included in the box.

Have a great day and get some work done yourself!
